Privacy Policy for Video Image Filter

Effective Date: October 27, 2026

Thank you for choosing to use the "Video Image Filter" browser extension (hereinafter referred to as the "Extension") and visiting our website at www.videoimagefilter.com (hereinafter referred to as the "Website").

Your privacy is fundamental to us. This Privacy Policy transparently describes the types of information we process or do not process and how we protect your security.

1. Data We Do NOT Collect

The Video Image Filter extension operates 100% locally on your device. We firmly believe that your browsing habits and content must remain strictly private.

We guarantee that the Extension:

  • DOES NOT collect, store, or transmit Personally Identifiable Information (PII) such as name, email address, or IP address.
  • DOES NOT track websites visited or your browsing history.
  • DOES NOT monitor or record what you watch, read or do on web pages (videos, images or text).
  • DOES NOT send or upload externally the screenshots of captured video frames (they are only generated and processed locally and saved in your computer's Downloads folder).
  • DOES NOT use third-party analytics or tracking tools (such as Google Analytics) within the extension.

The only usage information the Extension keeps is a small counter stored on your device only (chrome.storage.local): how many times you adjusted a filter, preset or speed, the dates of your last 3 days of use, and whether you have already answered the review request. It contains no websites, no page content and no personal data, it is never transmitted or synchronized, and it is used only to decide when to ask, at most once per session, whether you would like to leave a review on the Chrome Web Store. It is deleted when you uninstall the Extension.

2. Explanation of Requested Permissions (Permissions)

In order to perform its functions, the Extension requires certain specific browser permissions:

  • Host Permission (<all_urls>): The extension applies visual adjustments (contrast, brightness, sharpness, saturation, color blindness filters) and enables video frame capture on any website containing media (e.g. YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, Twitch, etc.). It is used exclusively to interact with the <video> and <img> elements in the local page DOM. It does not read, store, or transmit any personal data, cookies, or credentials.
  • Tabs (tabs): Used exclusively to capture the visible video frame image in the active tab (video screenshot feature), to open the informational welcome page upon initial extension installation, and to open the Chrome Web Store review page only when you click "Write a review".
  • Storage (storage): Used to store locally (chrome.storage.local) and synchronize (chrome.storage.sync) your graphic preferences, language, and custom presets created by you, allowing you to find them upon each restart, plus the usage counter described in section 1, which is stored only in chrome.storage.local and never synchronized. No data leaves the secure infrastructure of your Chrome account.
  • Scripting (scripting): Used to apply CSS/SVG graphic filters in real-time to multimedia elements of the open web page.
  • Side Panel (sidePanel): Allows opening the extension interface in the browser's native side panel, enabling you to adjust sliders while watching full-screen video without the popup closing on the first click on the page.

3. The Website

When you visit our promotional website (www.videoimagefilter.com), our hosting provider Cloudflare, which also stores the Website's videos (media.videoimagefilter.com), may record standard server access logs for service security and reliability purposes (e.g. IP address, browser type, date and time of the request). The Website loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when a page loads. Links from the Extension to the Website include campaign parameters (such as utm_source=extension) that only indicate the visit came from the Extension. We do not use analytics tools or profiling or advertising tracking cookies on the Website.

Uninstall feedback page

When you uninstall the Extension, Chrome opens a page on our Website (videoimagefilter.com/uninstall) whose address includes only the Extension version number. Answering is optional. If you choose to send feedback, your own email app opens a pre-filled message containing the reason you selected, any text you added, the Extension version and your browser language; sending it shares your email address with us. We use these messages only to improve the Extension, we do not share them with third parties, and you can ask us to delete them at any time by writing to the address below.

4. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect any new features introduced in the Extension or for legal and regulatory reasons. In case of material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of the document.
