Privacy Policy for Video Image Filter

Effective Date: August 29, 2026

Thank you for choosing to use the "Video Image Filter" browser extension (hereinafter referred to as the "Extension") and visiting our website at www.videoimagefilter.com / video-image-filter.netlify.app (hereinafter referred to as the "Website").

Your privacy is fundamental to us. This Privacy Policy transparently describes the types of information we process or do not process and how we protect your security.

1. Data We Do NOT Collect

The Video Image Filter extension operates 100% locally on your device. We firmly believe that your browsing habits and content must remain strictly private.

We guarantee that the Extension:

  • DOES NOT collect, store, or transmit Personally Identifiable Information (PII) such as name, email address, or IP address.
  • DOES NOT track websites visited or your browsing history.
  • DOES NOT monitor or record your interactions with videos, images, or text on web pages.
  • DOES NOT send or upload externally the screenshots of captured video frames (they are only generated and processed locally and saved in your computer's Downloads folder).
  • DOES NOT use third-party analytics or tracking tools (such as Google Analytics) within the extension.

2. Explanation of Requested Permissions (Permissions)

In order to perform its functions, the Extension requires certain specific browser permissions:

  • Host Permission (<all_urls>): The extension applies visual adjustments (contrast, brightness, sharpness, saturation, color blindness filters) and enables video frame capture on any website containing media (e.g. YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, Twitch, etc.). It is used exclusively to interact with the <video> and <img> elements in the local page DOM. It does not read, store, or transmit any personal data, cookies, or credentials.
  • Tabs (tabs): Used exclusively to capture the visible video frame image in the active tab (video screenshot feature) and to open the informational welcome page upon initial extension installation.
  • Storage (storage): Used to store locally (chrome.storage.local) and synchronize (chrome.storage.sync) your graphic preferences, language, and custom presets created by you, allowing you to find them upon each restart. No data leaves the secure infrastructure of your Chrome account.
  • Scripting (scripting): Used to apply CSS/SVG graphic filters in real-time to multimedia elements of the open web page.
  • Side Panel (sidePanel): Allows opening the extension interface in the browser's native side panel, enabling you to adjust sliders while watching full-screen video without the popup closing on the first click on the page.

3. The Website

When you visit our promotional website (www.videoimagefilter.com), our hosting provider (Netlify) may record standard server access logs for service security and reliability purposes (e.g. IP address, browser type, date and time of the request). We do not use profiling or advertising tracking cookies on the Website.

4. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect any new features introduced in the Extension or for legal and regulatory reasons. In case of material changes, we will update the "Effective Date" at the top of the document.
